Lise Vermeersch
Biography
Lise obtained her master’s in chemical and Materials Engineering in 2021 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and graduated summa cum laude. Before this, she completed a bachelor’s in architectural engineering in 2018 and a subsequent bachelor’s in chemical engineering in 2019, both with great distinction. During her studies, she was also president of the student council of the VUB and a member of the board of directors of the university. Right now, she joined the ALGC research group as a PhD student. Her research investigates how self-healing polymer networks based on Diels-Alder click chemistry can be improved, as the self-healing needs to be tunable for commercial use. Together with the FYSC group in the engineering faculty, which provides experimental data, she will build a multi-scale model to investigate the conventionally used furan maleimide system and its kinetics. Besides this, alternative Diels-Alder systems will be scrutinized.
